College Planning Activities

Students will be given both individual and group guidance information regarding college preparation activities throughout their four years of high school. Parents are urged to attend the evening seminars, peruse this website and Naviance.com for college and career information. The following specific college information will be provided to all college-bound students either in the classroom or individually.

Grade 10

  1. Classroom Presentation on college admission testings and the importance of the high school transcript. This will include information about the PSAT test (given in October) and the PLAN test (given in November).
  2. Classroom Presentation on PSAT results/future testing options (December)
  3. Individual Meeting with each student to discuss junior year courses and post-secondary planning status.
  4. Classroom Presentation on searching careers using Naviance, as well as returning PLAN test results (Spring).

Grade 11

  1. Classroom Presentation and Parent Seminar on goal setting/personal strength analysis, and college admission testing (September)
  2. Classroom Presentation on PSAT results/future testing options (December)
  3. Classroom Presentation and Evening Parent Seminar on senior curriculum options, the college selection process, college fairs, and college visits (March)
  4. Individual Meeting with each student to select senior year courses, assess testing options, and post-secondary planning status

Grade 12

  1. Classroom Presentation and Evening Parent Seminar on the College Application Process and senior year calendar (September)
  2. Classroom Presentation and Evening Parent Seminar on Financial Aid for Post-Secondary Education (January)
